Built in the 16th century, La Fuenta Colonial (the Colonial Fountain), also known as "Las Pila", is considered by many to be the most beautiful Mudejar-style fountain in the world.

It was here that 1000 Chiapa Indians committed suicide in the 16th century by throwing themselves off the highest point of the cliffs, rather than submit to Spanish rule.
